Hey all! I’m back with another installment of “Ask Molly”!
This week’s question was emailed to me from Ed who needs some romantic advice! Ed writes:
My girlfriend and I are both in our 20’s and I’m surprising her with a trip to Disney World in July! The big surprise is…I’m going to propose. I’m pretty sure I’m going to stay at Boardwalk Inn, but my questions are: Is Boardwalk Inn the right decision? Or should we go with Beach Club or Wilderness Lodge? If you have any proposal ideas, please share…I need some ideas!!
Thanks so much,
I have to tell you that I smiled from ear to ear when I read your question. I’m assuming that your girlfriend is a Disney fan, and I can tell you first hand that it is any female Disney fan’s dream to be proposed to in Walt Disney World! Let alone being surprised with a Disney vacation in the first place! MAJOR kudos to you, Ed!!!
The absolute first thing that came to mind for me when you said you were going to propose to her, was Main Street USA. In case you or anyone reading doesn’t know, Main Street USA is the walkway that you land on when you first enter the Magic Kingdom. It essentially leads you into the park and is adorned with places to eat and shop on either side. If I was going to be proposed to in Walt Disney World I think it would be amazing if my significant other and I were walking along Main Street USA, and suddenly my beau stopped in mid-step, took my hands, and got down on one knee in front of me. The castle would be the back drop in the distance, and everyone else walking along would be bound to give us room and circle around to witness the proposal! There would also be Photo Pass Photographers on hand to capture this amazing memory! I hope you can visualize this in your head as well as I can Ed, because I imagine this to be maybe just THE single best way to ask someone to marry you! I almost wish I wasn’t already married! 😉 I hope your girlfriend isn’t reading this, because I sure don’t want to spoil your amazing surprise!
Now I have to be honest with you and tell you that I have never stayed at the Boardwalk Inn or Beach Club. I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, and it is my absolute favorite resort, so my answer to this question is going to be biased! My husband and I honeymooned at the Lodge, and we now take our three children to stay there on our vacations to Disney World. I can definitely tell you that the Wilderness Lodge can be very romantic! I always like to call it “luxuriously rustic”. It is nestled among gigantic pine trees that you won’t find many other places on Walt Disney World property, and I love the all of the Native American decor. There is a huge stone fireplace in the lobby which is the perfect place to snuggle up together after a long day in the parks. The pool is amazing as well. It is free form, with a rock waterfall flowing into it. There are plenty of hiking trials that you can take romantic walks on, and a beautiful little white sand beach where the two of you can relax in the sun. Artist Point is the Lodge’s signature restaurant. My husband and I ate there on our honeymoon and adored it. If you decide to dine there, try the buffalo! I could go on and on talking about the Wilderness Lodge, but I will tell you that no matter where you decide to stay on Walt Disney World Property, you are in for a treat. You absolutely can not go wrong.
Ed, I hope you have an absolutely amazing time taking your soon to be fiance on a surprise trip to Walt Disney World. No matter where you stay, or how you propose, I know it is going to be one of the most magical times in the both of your lives. Maybe it will just inspire you to get married there! I feel another “Ask Molly” question coming on!!
Now go get wrapped up in some Pixie Dust! ~*~*~*~
