Sake Bar in Japan

Tucked away in the very back of the Mitsukoshi Department Store in Epcot’s Japan Pavilion is a subtle little bar that’s set up for sake tasting.

Ask for the plum.

Sake is an alcoholic beverage that’s made with fermented rice, and often referred to as “rice wine” even though the process of it’s creation is much closer to that of a beer. Sake frequently has an alcohol content between 28%-20%, so it packs a little more punch than your typical beer or wine.

There in the back of the store next to an exit door is the quaint little corner along a wall of sake bottles for sale. The counter is never very busy, but then it’s not really set up for guests to linger with no tables or seating no tables or seats. It seems to me that it was almost an after thought in the pavilion.
The tasting menu at the counter offers about 10 different sakes, plum wine, and the occasional cocktail. It showcases a good variety of sake styles from sweet to dry, unfiltered, filtered and sparkling.

The Sake bar has a sampler offer where you can taste 3 different sakes for about $14. The offerings to sample change from time to time, which makes this a good option to try a few different sakes over several different trips. Recently

Disney has added a second sake counter in the middle of the pavilion where guests can grab an interesting snack and a sake cocktail.

Tequila drinkers of all levels of experience will find themselves at home at La Cava del Tequila.  With well over 100 fine examples of Mexico’s national drink to choose from, including intense blancos, complex reposados, and velvety smooth añejos, everyone is sure to find something to suit their tastes.  Flights are available for those who wish to explore the diverse aromas and flavors that the numerous tequilas have to offer.  For those who are looking for something a little more exotic, our mixologists will employ a variety of flavored salts, spices and fresh tropical fruits in preparing luxurious margaritas that put the “agave” in avant-garde.


Of course, tequila is best enjoyed with something delicious to eat, and it is with that notion that La Cava del Tequila offers a variety of quick tastes, “tapas style,” which adorn the simple, yet expertly crafted food menu.  Freshly made guacamole, corn chips, salsas, ceviches and tostadas are there to provide the culinary counterpart to your beverage of choice.
