Traffic to our websites is normally WHY we keep blogging in the first place. We blog as an outlet for our feelings, thoughts, opinions or reviews, but unless someone is reading all this stuff, it’s all just kilobytes typed into a computer somewhere in cyberspace. To raise your site’s ranking, there are a few ways you can do it. Although I have not focused on my personal blog’s Alexa site ranking in the past few months, I am going to start now and run a test…
Starting today the current site ranking is in the 2 million range on Alexa.com so we need to make some changes.
I’m going out on a limb here and I’m going to try and do the “typical” stuff they mention in the “smarty websites” that think they know what they are doing… If it works, well, we can congratulate the internet webmaster know-it-all’s out there!
Ok, here are a few of MY tips that I am doing, mixed in with the worldwide geeks:
1. Guest Blog. Guest blogging works in many different ways BUT HEAR THIS: If your content sucks, it doesn’t matter how many guest blogs you are on, no one will want you back if your article brings no traffic and no one reads the content. You had better have passion behind your article or some expertise.
2. Start blogging like it’s your job. Well, it is really isn’t it? I mean, don’t blog today about your breakfast and later about your lunch… Seriously people, blogging SHOULD NOT BE DONE BY EVERYONE. No one cares you ate Wheaties today or your baby had a poopy diaper. Tell us WHY your eating Wheaties and WHY your kids diaper needs to be headline news.
3. Comment on other peoples blogs and leave your link. CAUTION: use this one with realistic views, opinions and posts. Posting your “This article was great, thanks, and your url will only get your message and comment deleted or marked as spam. NOT GOOD. Take a minute and READ the article your going to post on and think about your response. Do you want people doing that to your site? Then why do it to others.
