Pete’s Dragon 35th Anniversary Edition is out on Blu-Ray for the first time. It is a Disney musical about an orphan boy named Pete and his invisible dragon friend Elliot. Elliot is a huge, invisible green dragon and can be very mischievous at times. Pete lives with a bad family who abuses him so they decide to runaway to a small town in Maine. They end up meeting some new friends. Lampey who looks after the lighthouse (Mickey Rooney “The Fox and the Hound, Night at the Museum) and Nora (Helen Reddy Singer/Songwriter) who plays his daughter. So many different life circumstances and adventures arise and you see what a charming story of friendship and special bonds this movie really is about.
Pete’s Dragon is very innovative for its time, having real people and animation interaction. The Blu-Ray technology enhances the animation and makes you appreciate how advanced Disney was back in the day. Pete’s Dragon is also known for its music composition. In 1977 they were nominated for an Academy Award for “Best Original Song”, “Candle On The Water”.
