When you book your Disney Vacation, the usual first thing that you need to determine is when to go. The second is usually where to stay! I have stayed on property just about every time I have gone. My family gets just as much enjoyment at a great resort between restaurants, pools, fun activities and such that those amenities really can make or break your vacation. Some just want a bed to crash in at the end of a stressful day or they really just need a bed and shower. Some WDW fans really spend time at their resorts playing in the pools, eating at a great restaurant and really getting the entire Disney experience out. So, depending on where you fall in those categories, may sway your visits of where to stay just as importantly as when to stay.
From Pop Century to the Grand Floridian, my family has had the luxury of staying at almost every resort on property. This small mini vacation we just took was rather unexpected and on a bit short notice. I had panic set in for a split second… Even being a claimed “Disney Expert” I turned to my wife and we quickly got a plan together. I also relied on the services of our resident Travel Agent for “Love the Mouse Travel”, who responded back with lightning speed and great prices. After getting several quotes for on property resorts, we also decided to look into a slightly off property after hearing some favorable comments.
Jay from Love the Mouse Travel arranged us a stay at the Lake Buena Vista Palace Resort and Spa. Very reasonable was an understatement! At nearly half the cost of the Polynesian and even less than the Contemporary, we were able to stay for 4 nights for cheaper than Pop Century! The resort itself is located directly across the street from Downtown Disney and Saratoga Springs. It is right in the middle of great shopping, restaurants and Disney Fun. The resort has a decor that looks very similar to the Contemporary Resort. Very modern, a lot of white linens and dark wood. The room has two queen size beds, the usual safe and fridge and great water pressure.
We were on the 21st floor facing Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. You could easily see the Contemporary and the Polynesian from the balcony and Saratoga Springs was across the street. The resort had a few restaurants, even a character breakfast, nothing spectacular but you were so close to Downtown Disney and also many restaurants off Disney Property. Joe’s Crab Shack, Chilis, Steak & Shake, McDonalds, etc. If you did not want to spend $100 for lunch for your family, you can certainly find cheaper alternatives to save some cash.
The Lake Buena Vista Palace also has their own bus services that shuttle you to the parks just like the Disney Transport buses. They do make or share a few stops with the local Wyndham and Hilton resorts too, but it takes only a few minutes difference for the stops. The buses were only crowded one night coming back from Epcot.
You can search online for specials or contact our Travel Agency for free help to book or get a quote to see for yourself how much you can save but you certainly do not lose any room quality or time quality. In fact, you really do not lose anything worth mentioning. A great savings at a very nice resort.
