In my opinion Lady and The Tramp may be THE best animated Disney movie to watch with your family. It provides the perfect premise for a night of fun. There can’t be many people in the world who are not familiar with the iconic scene where Lady and Tramp share a spaghetti dinner at Tony’s. As soon as I knew that Lady and The Tramp had been released on Disney DVD and Blu-Ray, I went right out to pick it up. The natural next stop was to the grocery store to grab the fixings for a big dinner of spaghetti and meatballs! I’m not sure I can think of a better way to bring a family together then to fill up on a favorite Italian classic and then settle in to watch probably the most endearing tale of two dogs that there ever was.
I remember Lady and The Tramp very fondly from my own childhood so I was super excited to be able to share it with my own children. It looks great on Blu-Ray, definitely much better than my old VHS copy! If you have never seen Lady and The Tramp, I thoroughly recommend it. Miss Lady lives in the lap of luxury as the dog of a very nice couple in a very nice home. Scruffy but handsome (for a dog) Tramp lives on the streets but boasts that the best way to live isn’t with one family. In his opinion it is better to wander and never get attached to any one thing. And so it goes, “He’s a Tramp, but she loves him…” Lady gets a taste of what it is to live Tramp’s life when her owners have their first baby and can’t show Lady the attention that she desires. An aunt comes to watch the baby while Lady’s owners go on holiday and brings along her two cats. Surely you know the two I am speaking of. “We are looking over our new domicile…if we like we maybe stay for quite a while.” Poor Lady gets framed by the “Siamese Twins” and the Aunt puts a muzzle on her. Obviously outraged and embarrassed Lady runs away to Tramp who shows her the enticing and romantic world outside of her warm and safe home. I won’t spoil the ending for you, but lets just say it might have something to do with some more babies, err, puppies that is.
Lady and The Tramp is a Disney classic that you won’t want to miss now re-leased in better picture and sound on it’s Diamond Edition on Disney DVD and Blu-Ray. Anyone will enjoy this “tail” of two pups, but if you have a family, make a fun night out of it like we did. And don’t be shy, just for this one time, put your manners aside and slurp up some spaghetti Lady and Tramp style. I assure you that it will be a “Bella Notte”!
