Experiencing Disney in Diapers, Rides for the little guys!

The magic of Disney and Walt Disney World to me is seeing the excitement through the smiles that it puts on my children’s faces.  What Disney does so well in its parks is to provide the entire family a chance to have a memorable experience.  There are shows, characters, great food, but most importantly there are rides.  Children (including babies) can enjoy a significant number of rides in each of the Walt Disney World parks.  Disney does a great job at creating rides and ride vehicles with the smallest park guests in mind.

On our first trip to Walt Disney World as a family, my wife and I took our son who was 2 and our daughter who was 3 months.  Of course we did lots of planning, but what impressed me a lot while we were at the parks was the amount of rides and attractions that we could enjoy as a family without splitting up or experiencing alone.

Let’s take a look at the number of rides that the littlest of Disney fans can enjoy at Walt Disney World.

  • Magic Kingdom – In the most kid friendly park at Walt Disney World there are 16 great ride experiences for passengers of any height.  Some of our favourites as a family are Dumbo, “it’s a small world,” Jungle Cruise, and Peter Pan’s Flight.  If your little one has the need for speed, take them for a high flying ride on the Astro Orbiter where children under 7 can ride with a responsible person age 14 and up.
  • Epcot – There are 7 ride attractions in this park to inspire and spark the imaginations of children.   The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros in the Mexico Pavilion is definitely the experience we look forward to most as a family in Epcot.   And I can’t forget to mention Journey Into Imagination with Figment – I love hearing the kids sing its catchy little jingle.
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios – With only 3 rides for young children, the Studios lacks a bit in the ride category, however it does make up for it with an experience that is not to be missed.  I am talking about Toy Story Midway Mania.  If you play your fastpasses and rider swap passes correctly, you and your family can ride this popular attraction a couple times per visit.  Don’t forget to get to the park early.
  • Animal Kingdom – This park also contains only 3 rides for babies and small toddlers.  Our kids enjoy the “Dumbo-like” ride TriceraTop Spin in Dinoland U.S.A.  If you are looking to give them some animal exposure, be sure to ride one of the park’s most popular rides, Kilimanjaro Safaris.

With nearly 30 ride attractions to enjoy and explore as a young family in Walt Disney World, there is certainly lots of action to keep the young children entertained.  Mix in a few shows and a swim in one of the Disney Resort pools and you will have a special memory that will last a lifetime.
